Asbestos survey and asbestos analysis are two different services, although they are often used interchangeably in everyday life. This article will clarify their differences and help you choose the right service.
Asbestos survey - a comprehensive study
Asbestos survey is a comprehensive study by an expert, which includes:
- An expert's visit to the site
- Visual inspection and identification of materials
- Sampling of all suspected materials
- Laboratory analysis (JEOL SEM-EDS)
- A comprehensive survey report with recommendations
An asbestos survey is a legal requirement before demolition and repair work in sites built before 1994.

Asbestos analysis - examination of a single sample
Asbestos analysis (or asbestos sample) means laboratory research of a single material sample. The process is:
- You take a sample of the material yourself
- You mail it to the lab
- The laboratory analyses the sample with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope
- You will receive the result by email
Asbestos analysis does not include a visit by an expert or a survey report.
Price: 39,90 € + VAT per sample
Which one is right for you?
Choose asbestos survey when:
- You are planning a renovation and several materials need to be examined
- Not sure which materials to sample
- You need a comprehensive report (required by law in connection with the renovation)
- The housing company or authority requires a report
- The site is large (entire apartment, house or several premises)
Choose an asbestos analysis when:
- You only want to check a single material
- You know exactly where to sample
- You want preliminary information before ordering a more extensive survey
- The budget is limited and you need a quick response
Comparison
Asbestos survey (119 € incl. VAT): An expert comes to the site, identifies the materials, takes samples, analyzes and delivers a comprehensive report. Statutory in connection with renovation.
Asbestos analysis (39,90 € + VAT/sample): You take the sample yourself, send it by post, get the lab result. A fast, inexpensive way to check a single material.
Both services use the same JEOL SEM-EDS laboratory analysis according to the ISO 22262-1 standard - the reliability of the results is the same.
