Asbestos survey report - what does it contain?

The asbestos survey report tells you where asbestos is and how to act. Read what the report contains and how to interpret it.

asbestos survey report

The asbestos survey report is the final result of the survey - a document that tells what was investigated, where asbestos was found and what further measures are recommended. The report is a legally important document that must be presented to the asbestos removal company and, if necessary, to the authorities.

Content of the report

General information about the site

The report starts with basic information about the site: address, year of construction, type of building and scope of renovation. This helps the reader understand the context.

Materials examined

The report lists all the materials from which samples were taken. For each sample, it is stated:

  • Type of material (e.g. tile adhesive, wall filler, vinyl flooring)
  • Sample location (state and exact location)
  • Material condition

Laboratory results

The laboratory result of each sample is clearly stated:

  • No asbestos was detected - the material is asbestos-free
  • Asbestos detected - type of asbestos (e.g. chrysotile, amosite) and concentration are stated

Conclusions

The report's conclusions summarize which materials and locations asbestos was found in. This is the most important section of the report in terms of renovation planning.

Recommendations for further measures

The surveyor gives recommendations on how asbestos-containing materials should be handled. Typical recommendations include:

  • Asbestos removal by an authorized company before renovation
  • Encapsulating or leaving the material in place (if possible)
  • Special precautions for certain materials

How is the report interpreted?

Reading the report is usually straightforward:

  1. See the conclusions - they summarize the findings
  2. Identify materials containing asbestos - which materials does your renovation touch?
  3. Follow the recommendations - if asbestos is found, carry out asbestos removal before renovation

Retention of the report

The survey report should be kept carefully:

  • It is legal document, which proves that the survey has been done
  • It's important in connection with the sale of the apartment - the buyer may want to see the report
  • It can replace a new survey if renovation is carried out in the same areas later
  • In housing companies, the report must be filed in the company's documents

Asbestipro's survey reports are usually delivered by email in PDF format within 1 business day from the survey visit.
