Take the sample yourself and post it to us. The analysis is done on the day the sample arrives, and the report comes by email. JEOL SEM-EDS analysis to the ISO 22262-1 standard.
Inari is the largest municipality in Finland by area, located in Lapland, and its roughly 7,200 residents are spread across a vast territory. Settlement is concentrated around Lake Inari, where the largest population centres lie: the administrative centre of Ivalo, the church village of Inari and the tourist resort of Saariselkä. Neighbouring municipalities include Sodankylä, Utsjoki, Enontekiö and Kittilä. Inari's building stock was almost entirely destroyed in the Lapland War, and Ivalo in particular was essentially rebuilt from scratch after the war. As a result, a large share of today's residential and commercial buildings were put up between the 1940s and the 1990s, when asbestos was widely used in tiles, vinyl flooring, adhesive and jointing mortars, pipe insulation and façade panels. In stock completed before 1994, asbestos is commonly present, so an asbestos survey is worth carrying out before a renovation. Because Inari lies outside our actual survey area, we serve the municipality with an asbestos sample sent to us by post (39,90 € plus VAT). The sample is reliably analysed with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope in accordance with the ISO 22262-1 standard.
Inari: when to take an asbestos sample
Inari is the largest municipality in Finland by area, located in Lapland, and its roughly 7,200 residents are spread across a vast territory. Settlement is concentrated around Lake Inari, where the largest population centres lie: the administrative centre of Ivalo, the church village of Inari and the tourist resort of Saariselkä. That is why, in local properties completed before 1994, it is worth confirming whether a material contains asbestos before anything is opened up, sanded down or demolished. A mail-in asbestos sample suits the situation where the suspicion falls on one clearly identified material and you want a reliable laboratory result before the renovation goes any further.
Inari: which materials to check before renovating
As a result, a large share of today's residential and commercial buildings were put up between the 1940s and the 1990s, when asbestos was widely used in tiles, vinyl flooring, adhesive and jointing mortars, pipe insulation and façade panels. Take the sample from the exact material the renovation touches: an old vinyl floor, the adhesive behind a tile, pipe insulation, a filler, a facade panel or a roofing material. Asbestos cannot be identified reliably by eye, so a laboratory test is the only dependable way to tell an ordinary building material from one that contains asbestos.
Inari: asbestos sampling by post
Inari lies outside the area we cover with on-site surveys, so we serve the town with a mail-in asbestos sample instead. You take a small material sample following our instructions, post it to the laboratory and receive the result by email. The price is 39,90 € + VAT per sample. The analysis is carried out with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope in accordance with the ISO 22262-1 standard, so you get a clear statement on whether the material examined contains asbestos.
