Asbestos survey in Kotka

Asbestos was widely used in Finnish construction from the 1920s right up until 1992, and its sale was finally banned in 1994. In practice, this means that for almost every property in Kotka completed before 1994, the possibility of asbestos needs to be established before a renovation or demolition. It can be hidden in floor tiles, waterproofing membranes, pipe insulation, tile adhesive and wall panels, among other places. Finnish Government Decree 798/2015 requires an asbestos survey before demolition or renovation work if a building was built before 1994. The survey is not just a formality: it protects the health of workers and residents and ensures the work proceeds lawfully. Kotka's older residential and industrial building stock makes the survey an especially important part of planning a renovation.

AsbestiPro's asbestos survey in Kotka is a straightforward, hassle-free experience. A qualified and experienced surveyor arrives at the property at the agreed time and systematically examines the building, identifying materials that may contain asbestos. The surveyor takes the necessary samples from suspect structures carefully and records their exact locations. The samples are sent to the OneLab laboratory, where they are analysed with a JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope in accordance with the international ISO 22262-1 standard. This is a reliable, precise way to confirm whether a material contains asbestos. Once the analysis is complete, you receive a clear written report by email quickly. The report states which materials contained asbestos and serves as documentation for planning the renovation or demolition, as well as a statutory document to be handed over to the contractor.

AsbestiPro's asbestos survey in Kotka costs a fixed price of 239 € incl. VAT, with no surprises or hidden costs. The price includes the site visit, all necessary samples, laboratory analysis at the OneLab laboratory, travel costs within the Kymenlaakso area, VAT, and the finished written report. A clear fixed price makes budgeting easy for a single housing company, a detached-house owner or a renovator alike. For larger demolition sites, where there are more structures and samples to assess, 100 € is added to the price. If you'd like to check the asbestos content of a single material yourself, we also offer an asbestos sample kit for 39,90 € + VAT, where you take the sample according to our instructions and send it to the laboratory for analysis.
